12. What is the procedure to collect the samples?

DAY 1  We collect the samples from all our guests in the Mara then put them in our ice chain.

DAY 2  Samples are sent to Nairobi to our labs. THE TEST TIME WILL BE ON DAY 2 ONCE THE SAMPLES REACH        THE LAB AT ABOUT 2 PM – THIS ENSURES YOU DO NOT LOSE ANY TIME ON THE ALLOWED HOURS.

DAY 3  By 9 am the client receives the Covid-19 certificate and Trusted Traveller (TT) code certificate.

All samples will be taken according to the following procedure:

  • A requisition form and customer detail form is filled in and taken along with the passport copy.

  • The test samples are collected by our lab technicians/nurses.

  • Each person’s sample is placed in a VIRAL TRANSPORT MEDIA KIT (VTM).

  • The VTM is sealed and then placed with the requisition form and the customer detail form in a BIOHAZARD SEALED BAG.

  • The BIOHAZARD SEALED BAG is then placed in an ice box with ice packs and sealed.

  • The box is then sent to Nairobi and collected by the team there.

  • The box will only be opened by the lab technician and doctor at the hospital and the tests will be carried out. If there is any tampering with the samples, you will be informed immediately and a retest will be conducted.

  • Results are processed and issued along with the TT code and emailed to the client.

VERY IMPORTANT:

We need the samples to be collected 36 hours prior so that we can send the test swabs by the next day 9 am. The results will be emailed to the client by 9 am the day after.
